Currently, COP 26 was discussed in Glasgow, Scotland, where it brought together leaders to debate the problems caused in nature, due to human action through the misuse and excessive use of natural resources, and the emissions of carbon gas into the atmosphere. With data collection on the damages caused to the environment, this conference aimed at assertive goals to be fulfilled by the countries. Starting from the first World Conferences, Environmental Education in Brazil gained strength in 1973 by conservationist movements, movements that occurred through the action of teachers, students and civil society, proclaimed for democratic freedom and actions that were aimed at protecting and preserving nature. Thus, Environmental Education has become a fundamental right for society, and must be developed in a political and pedagogical manner. This article aims to analyze the approaches within the school environment, through practical measures that contribute to the construction of critical and reflective thinking about environmental awareness. In a descriptive way, this article will discuss the main milestones of environmental history in the school context, starting from the conferences, the Laws implemented in the Constitution, such as Law 9.795/1999, which institutes environmental education in all student spheres. Finally, the main approaches of teaching work with the theme. A educação ambiental vem sendo bastante discutida na atualidade, grandes conferências globais são realizadas para debaterem o futuro do nosso ecossistema, Conferência como a de Estocolmo foi um grande marco na história, trouxe como objetivo implementar medidas de preservação do Meio Ambiente. Atualmente, foi discutido em Glasgow na Escócia a COP 26, onde reuniu líderes para debaterem sobre os problemas causados na natureza, devido a ação humana pelo uso indevido e excessivo dos recursos naturais, e as emissões do gás carbono na atmosfera. Com levantamento de dados sobre os agravos causados no meio ambiente esta conferência objetivou metas assertivas a serem cumpridas pelos países. Partindo das primeiras Conferências mundiais, a Educação Ambiental no Brasil ganhou força em 1973 pelos movimentos conservacionistas, movimentos esses ocorridos pela ação de professores, alunos e da sociedade civil, apregoavam por liberdade democrática e ações que fossem voltadas para proteger e preservar a natureza. Assim, a Educação Ambiental tornou-se um direito fundamental para a sociedade, devendo ser desenvolvida de maneira política e pedagógica. Este artigo objetiva fazer uma análise sobre as abordagens dentro do ambiente escolar, através de medidas práticas que contribuem na construção do pensamento crítico e reflexivo sobre a conscientização ambiental. De maneira descritiva o presente artigo irá discorrer os principais marcos da história ambiental no contexto escolar, partindo das conferências, as Leis implantadas na Constituição, como a Lei 9.795/1999, que institui a educação ambiental em todas as esferas estudantis.
