CNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LETRAS This monograph is a result of reading and studies developed in the classroom in the discipline of Brazilian Literature: Literary Manifestations of the Colonial Period, of the degree course in Letters: Portuguese Language and Literature at the Federal University of Northern Tocantins (UFNT). The objective is to reflect on the process of constrution of this imaginary in the light of the historical and social context of the time so powerful that it is still present in the 21st century. The texts under analysis are the records of the sea voyages of Europeans who addressed the discovery of the New World, under an imaginary of abundance and dazzle. As we see in the reports, the pioneers were fascinated with the newly discovered land, where they saw the new Lost Paradise. They thought of him as the new Eden, because they believed that he was blessed by God with pure in habitats, excellent soil fertility, abundant fresh water, vast territories, fruits of various species and exotic beauty. This work aims to analyze how this paradisiacal vision of Europeans for the New World, from its origins to today, more precisely at the opening of the FIFA world cup based in Brazil in 2014. The show "Treasures of Brazil: its people, its nature and football" was created by the Belgian artist for Belgian Daphne Cornez in order to honor the nature of Brazil. Esta monografia é resultado de leitura e estudos desenvolvidos em sala de aula na disciplina de Literatura Brasileira: Manifestações Literárias do Período Colonial do curso de Licenciatura em Letras: Língua Portuguesa e Literaturas da Universidade Federal do Norte do Tocantins (UFNT). O objetivo é refletir sobre o processo de construção desse imaginário à luz do contexto histórico e social da época tão potente que ainda se faz presente no século XXI. Os textos em análise são registros das viagens marítimas de europeus que abordaram a descoberta do Novo Mundo, sob um imaginário de abundância e deslumbramento. Como vemos nos relatos, os pioneiros ficaram fascinados com a terra recém-descoberta, onde avistaram o novo Paraíso Perdido. Pensavam nele como o novo Éden, pois acreditavam que era um lugar abençoado por Deus com habitantes puros, excelente fertilidade do solo, abundante água doce, vastos territórios, frutas de várias espécies e beleza exótica. Este trabalho visa analisar essa visão paradisíaca dos europeus para o Novo Mundo, das suas origens aos dias de hoje, mais precisamente na abertura da Copa do Mundo da FIFA sediada no Brasil em 2014.
