This study analyzes the effectiveness of the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic
Education and Valorization of Education Professionals (FUNDEB) between the years 2020
and 2022, in the context of municipal schools in Pedreiras-Maranhão, verifying what the fund
brought in terms of improvement and growth, certifying FUNDEB’s influence on educational
development. In addition to concluding that municipal public management can assist in
strategic planning to reduce inequalities in education. To achieve this, the idea is to use
bibliographical and documentary research, relevant legislation, relevant jurisprudence and field
work, given the need for two methodological forms to achieve greater seriousness in the
research. This time, the data and information collected showed that there was an improvement
in schools and salaries of education professionals with the implementation of FUNDEB, as well
as that in the periods analyzed, little educational growth was observed when compared to the
years researched, in addition, it was found that It is clear that the public administration has a
great influence on the applicability of the resource, by managing how the fund’s values should
be spent, even with the rigidity of the law that already informs the specific destination, however,
different interpretations are possible depending on each case and thus the administration
allocates resources where it understands best and what it understands to be spent on basic
education.
