Resumo:
The research presented in this final paper of the Social Work Course brings the theme “Social Rights of the Elderly in Theoretical Writings of Social Work”. The general objective of this work is to analyze the scientific journals of Social Work in the period between 2000 and 2018 in order to understand how scientific productions that investigate and debate on the social rights of the elderly are developed. In order to add information and knowledge that further deepen the debate on the topic in question, in carrying out this work, we used the qualitative bibliographic research method, based on the interest in analyzing and understanding the historical context of the social right of the elderly in Brazil .What was done? What are the achievements made? How many and which periodicals were debating this issue and how is the implementation of the National Policy for the Elderly. It is from the Federal Constitution of 1988 that this theme becomes part of theoretical debates, since the aging phenomenon seemed to be a little distant from the area of activity of Social Work. We emphasize the importance of Social Service for the guarantee and realization of the social rights of the elderly, based on the Federal Constitution of 1988, the National Policy for the Elderly and the Elderly Statute that enable the protection, dignity and citizenship of the elderly in the context of Social Policies. Until 1994 in Brazil there were no public policies aimed at the elderly, only after the creation of the Law. 8,842 of January 4 of the same year, with the creation of the National Council for the Elderly, the guidelines of the National Policy on Elderly people begin to be performed, emphasizing the importance of the participation of public agents at the federal, state and municipal levels, aiming to create conditions to promote the quality of life of the human person in the aging process. Finally, in this perspective, the bibliographical research presented here demonstrates the importance of understanding old age and its totality, considering the social, cultural, physical, psychological, emotional and financial phenomena that need to be debated and analyzed in order to understand reality as Social Work as an interventional profession uses the knowledge produced to develop concrete actions in the search for the realization of the rights of the elderly population.
