Resumo:
This article analyzes the importance of Elis Regina's music as a form of political expression in the context of the military dictatorship in Brazil. It specifically aims to reflect on the context of the military dictatorship and its impact on the restriction of freedom of expression, understand the significance and influence of Elis Regina's music in society, identify how the singer politically expressed herself through her music, and finally analyze the songs themselves. The research utilized a literature review approach, drawing from theses, dissertations, and articles on the subject. Regarding the analysis, a qualitative perspective was adopted. By studying the context of that period, the research sought to explore artistic resistance to censorship and oppression, highlighting Elis Regina's role as an engaged voice who uses her music to critique the prevailing system, of which society was a victim, and address relevant political and social issues. Through songs like "Como nossos pais" by Belchior and "O bêbado e a equilibrista" by João Bosco and Aldir Blanc, the singer gave voice to the people, fostered awareness and mobilization, and represented the struggle for freedom and social justice. The songs performed by Elis during the military dictatorship demonstrate her political and cultural power, denouncing injustices through artistic expression, making their study essential for understanding and reflecting on this historical period and its repercussions in Brazilian society.
