It specifically aims to reflect on the context of the military dictatorship and its impact on the restriction of freedom of expression, understand the significance and influence of Elis Regina's music in society, identify how the singer politically expressed herself through her music, and finally analyze the songs themselves. The research utilized a literature review approach, drawing from theses, dissertations, and articles on the subject. Regarding the analysis, a qualitative perspective was adopted. By studying the context of that period, the research sought to explore artistic resistance to censorship and oppression, highlighting Elis Regina's role as an engaged voice who uses her music to critique the prevailing system, of which society was a victim, and address relevant political and social issues. Through songs like "Como nossos pais" by Belchior and "O bêbado e a equilibrista" by João Bosco and Aldir Blanc, the singer gave voice to the people, fostered awareness and mobilization, and represented the struggle for freedom and social justice. The songs performed by Elis during the military dictatorship demonstrate her political and cultural power, denouncing injustices through artistic expression, making their study essential for understanding and reflecting on this historical period and its repercussions in Brazilian society. Este artigo analisa a importância da música de Elis Regina como forma de expressão em termos políticos no contexto da ditadura militar no Brasil. Busca também, especificamente, refletir sobre o contexto da ditadura militar no processo de cerceamento dos direitos de liberdade de expressão; entender a importância e a influência da música de Elis Regina na sociedade; identificar como a cantora se expressava, politicamente, através da música e, por fim, analisar as músicas. Para desenvolver a pesquisa, utilizou-se da revisão bibliográfica, a partir de teses, dissertações e artigos que tratam do tema. No que diz respeito à análise, a pesquisa adotou a perspectiva qualitativa. Ao estudar o contexto dessa época, buscou-se explorar a resistência artística à censura e à opressão, destacando o papel de Elis Regina como uma voz engajada, que usa sua música como uma crítica ao sistema vigente, do qual a sociedade era vítima e abordar temas políticos e sociais relevantes. Através das músicas “Como nossos pais” de Belchior e o "O bêbado e a equilibrista" de João Bosco e Aldir Blanc, a cantora deu voz ao povo, trouxe conscientização e mobilização e representou a luta pela liberdade e justiça social.
