Resumo:
Animals abandoned on the street (or that are born under this condition) are supported by animal protectors – people who carry out voluntary work to rescue and care for these animals. In this research, we narrate the realities of people who dedicate themselves to this work in the State of Amapá, and in parallel, we narrate the trajectory of some animals, showing the importance of the role of communication in environmental and even community issues, such as volunteering. It is extremely important to take into account that volunteering is a job that is still very invisible, and the relevance of making it an issue in the area of environmental journalism is evident. The chosen methodology takes place through the rescue of memory – in the face of in-depth interviews with the chosen sources – in addition to living with volunteers for an in loco assessment of the problems identified, putting into practice immersive journalism through longform narratives. Furthermore, this research takes place through the argumentation of the qualitative method (MARTINO, 2018), ethnographic description (LAPLATINE, 2004), participant observation (ANGROSINO, 2009), interview (MEDINA, 1986) and life stories (MARTINO, 2018). With this work, we show how communication, more specifically journalism, can contribute to reveal the work and environmental initiatives in the Amazon.
