The inclusive teaching of genetics is a challenge because it addresses contents that involve
several abstract concepts, including alleles, gene and phenotype. Thus, one of the problems in
this teaching refers to the need to use methodologies that aim to facilitate the elucidation of this
theme by teachers, especially in inclusive teaching of the deaf. Thus, the objective of this work
was to develop a didactic resource in order to contribute in the teaching-learning process of
fundamental concepts of genetics in order to respect the specific educational needs and thus
equate the opportunities for access to the material information by these students. In view of this,
the resource was elaborated in the form of a bilingual glossary Portuguese Language / Brazilian
Sign Language (LIBRAS), and with illustrations of each concept, as well as QR codes with
video links about each one, the official language of these students, and visual stimulation to
facilitate the assimilation of the content addressed. The research was qualitative and
quantitative applied in two public schools in the city of Santarém-PA that serve deaf students,
in classes of regular education, the 2nd and 3rd year of high school. Data were collected through
a questionnaire applied to students as well as teachers and analyzed by frequency of answers
and categorization. The resource showed good results in stimulating and offering conditions for
learning genetics, verified in the correct assimilation of terms in the application of the
questionnaires, as well as in contributing to the increase of self-esteem and confidence of the
deaf, observed in the face of the demonstration of interest and participation in class. Moreover,
it has proved feasible in assessing all teachers questioned, especially regarding the use of
another language, to help them also have the opportunity to learn some signs of biology. Given
this, the issue 1 - Mendel's First Law of the glossary entitled “Deciphering the Signs of
Genetics” is an alternative to the inclusive teaching-learning process, and expansion of LIBRAS
in this area of knowledge. |
