The study analyzed the notified cases ofhepatitis B and C in the city ofSantarém - Pará between
2010 and 2020. Data were collected in the Information System for Compulsory Notifiable
Diseases (SINAN), using the variables: year of diagnosis, place of notification, gender, age
range: 15 to 39 years, ethnicity and declared education. 1,353 cases of viral hepatitis were
reported in Santarém, regardless of age group; 892 (65.93%) were cases of hepatitis B and C.
Of these, 284 (31.83%) were between 15 and 39 years old; being 122 (42.95%) men and 162
(57.04) women; 270 (95.07%) are brown and 102 (35.91%) have completed high school. The
analysis ofthe cases showed the highest incidence oftype B hepatitis, with 230 cases (80.98%),
following the national trend. However, 129 (56.08%) cases occurred in females, diverging from
the Brazilian occurrence, which has a higher number ofcases in males.
