The National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC) instituted
the offer of Integrative and Complementary Practices in 2006. However, before that,
health professionals already used these practices, promoting autonomy in care.
Among the practices approved and included in this context are homeopathy,
acupuncture, phytotherapy and social thermalism. Between 2017 and 2018, 18 new
integrative and complementary practices (PIC) were included, despite the potential in
the insertion and use of these practices in health care, weaknesses are still observed
in their full implementation in primary care. Therefore, the objective of this study is to
characterize access to integrative and complementary practices in primary care in the
municipalities that make up the western region of Pará. This is a descriptive, crosssectional, quantitative study. The data were collected in the secondary database of the
National Program for the Improvement of Access and Quality of Primary Care (PMAQAB), the selected variables were related to the questions about the PIC of module II,
which consists of the interview of the health professionals interviewed , the clipping
used covered the 14 municipalities that make up the Lower Amazon region, for data
analysis descriptive statistics were used in Excel software. The results of this study
demonstrate that the 12% (n=11) of the PIC's offered, mainly in the municipality of
Santarém (54.5%), the ones that stood out the most were music therapy and
community therapy, both with 36.4% (n=4) and among others. Despite the insertion,
the North region has a lower offer due to the socioeconomic context, when compared
to other regions such as the South and Southeast. Barriers such as lack of financial
resources, resistance or lack of knowledge on the part of professionals and managers
mean that the region has a low offer for the use of these practices. These findings
reiterate the need for incentives so that professionals can implement PICs that require
a greater investment, both financial to pay for the performance of some practices, and
training to promote the training of these professionals through continuing education
programs. It is still recommended to develop strategies that portray and replicate
successful experiences, such as those observed in the western region of Pará. |
