The research was conducted at the Experimental Station for Tropical Forest research (ZF-2) of the National Institute of Research of the Amazon (INPA). This study used five towers to access each height of the vertical profile of canopy, where 1090 fully expanded leaves collected and carry to laboratory to determine SLA. Area and dry mass of these leaves were evaluated by using leaf area integrator and analytical balance, respectively. The SLA was determined by ratio of leaf area for its mass and SLA was expressed in cm2.g-1. The results showed that there was negative correlation (r2 = 0,62, P < 0,0001) between height of canopy vertical profile and SLA and this correlation can be described by equation SLA = Exp(2,202 – 0,015 Height) and the it can verify a stratification in this vertical profile, where it was found three different classes of height, the lowest height at 0 to 10 m presented the higher mean value of SLA, at 10 to 20 m the intermediate mean values of SLA were verified and higher than 20 m it was observed the lowest SLA mean values at canopy vertical profile. O objetivo deste trabalho é entender como a área específica foliar (AEF) está distribuída no perfil vertical do dossel florestal. O trabalho foi desenvolvido na Estação Experimental de Silvicultura Tropical (Núcleo – ZF2) do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia. Para alcançar as folhas nas diferentes alturas do perfil vertical foram utilizadas cinco torres. Foram coletadas 1.090 folhas completamente expandidas e levadas ao laboratório para determinação da AEF. A área e massa foliar foram determinadas com a utilização de um integrador de área foliar e uma balança analítica, respectivamente. AEF foi determinada pela razão entre área e massa seca foliar e foi expressa em cm2.g-1. Os resultados apontam que houve uma correlação negativa (r2 = 0,62, P < 0,0001) entre altura e AEF que pode ser descrita pela equação AEF = Exp(2,202 – 0,015 Alt) e que o perfil vertical do dossel florestal pode ser estratificado em três classes distintas de alturas sendo de 0 a 10 m a classe que apresenta os maiores valores de AEF, seguido pela classe nas alturas entre 10 e 20 m com AEF de valores intermediários e na porção superior do dossel acima de 20 m que apresenta os menores valores de AEF. 2024-12-18T20:15:35Z 2024-12-18T20:15:35Z 2022-02-09 TCC FIGUEIRA, Thalia Nascimnto.
