The results of these assessments are made available for schools in the country to use in order to adopt strategies that aim to improve their performance. Thus, this work addresses a study on the possibilities, with emphasis on SAEB, of using its results to improve the teaching and learning process in the 9th grade classes, at the State School of Elementary and High School Frei Othmar in the city of Santarém-Pa. The objective is to analyze the actions taken at the school as a strategy to obtain improvements in the educational indicators of the school. The results pointed out in this work refer to the use of internal diagnostic evaluations and pedagogical practices of the school. The aim is to emphasize to the school community that the results of these assessments can be used as work tools and, in addition, contribute to overcome knowledge learning deficiencies at all levels of education. With the analysis of the school's results, consid ering the external evaluation to which it has been submitted and analyzing through a historical series, there are signs of positive results resulting from the actions taken. As avaliações em larga escala são realidades presente nas escolas brasileiras há 30 anos, e através destas, juntamente com outros indicadores, cada escola recebe um índice que indica seu desenvolvimento, mostrando assim se os trabalhos estão alcançando ou não os efeitos desejados. Os resultados destas avaliações são disponibilizados para que escolas do país utilizem com finalidade de adotar estratégias que visam melhorar seus desempenhos. Dessa forma, este trabalho aborda um estudo sobre as possibilidades, com ênfase ao SAEB, de uso de seus resultados para melhorar o processo de ensino e aprendizagem nas turmas do 9º ano, na Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e Médio Frei Othmar na cidade de Santarém-PA. O objetivo é fazer uma análise sobre as ações adotadas na escola como estratégia de obter melhorias nos indicadores educacionais desta. Os resultados apontados neste trabalho referem-se ao uso de avaliações diagnósticas internas e práticas pedagógicas da escola. Almeja-se com isso, enfatizar à comunidade escolar que os resultados destas avaliações podem ser utilizados como ferramentas de trabalho e, além disso, contribuem para superar deficiências de aprendizagem do conhecimento em todos os níveis de ensino.
