This work was elaborated aiming to characterize the production of cassava and its by-products, relating the aspects: social, economic and productive in the District of Carvão, located 14 km from the headquarters of the Mazagão Municipality and 46 km from the Capital Macapá. In terms of research methodology, we delimited the qualitative and quantitative exploratory approach. Data collection took place through a field survey, in which 21 farmers were interviewed through a form consisting of 10 (ten) objective questions, related to the focus of the research. This investigation showed that the main causes are family breakdown, rural exodus, entry into the civil service, as well as the lack of government technical support. The practices used in production, where families exchange daily rates to increase production without generating a burden to the families involved, makes their production reach the final consumer (marketing), in fairs in the city and state capital. Finally, the families of farmers in the District of Carvão, despite all the obstacles, continue to maintain the tradition of artisanal production of manioc flour and its by-products, valuing the local culture |
