Our objective was to diagnose the teaching of Philosophy in the context of High School, taking the reality of the private school network in the city of Santarém-PA, from the perspectives of teachers and managers involved in this process. The research is born from my experience as a Philosophy teacher in the private education network and the reflections resulting from this experience. The present work starts from a qualitative approach of exploration and the theoretical foundation of the research is established from Gallo (2006 and 2012) and Severino (2010). A survey was carried out with the CAPES database and the repositories of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and the Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA), through which we could see the need for further research related to the teaching of Philosophy in Western region of Pará between 2005 and 2021. The empirical research was carried out from structured and open interviews with Philosophy teachers and High School pedagogical coordinators who work or have worked in Philosophy teaching in the context of private education. From the research, we were able to verify that the teaching of the discipline of Philosophy in the private school network of Santarém is marked by contradictions and weaknesses, and the discipline is still treated in a secondary and stigmatized way, affecting the quality of teaching and resulting in a process of devaluation of the teacher of this discipline.
