In order to allow the understanding of the sociocultural and economic dynamics in the study area, it was important to discuss concepts of frontier development and tourism. Still, we analyzed the governmental actions of tourism to the region and compared these with the other shares of regional development, aiming to reveal the possibilities for the border, and how tourism can contribute to the processes of development and cooperation. Thereby, it was important to characterize the area through methodological procedures of comparative analysis, we compared the actions of government tourism in Brazil and French Guiana, as well as the actions of cooperation in tourism, using the techniques of anthropology visual and ethnographic present in order to understand the dynamics between communities, and interviews with government officials, businessmen and communities. Finally, we analyzed what kind of tourism is characteristic of border regions by making a theoretical analysis of studies conducted at the borders of South America, North America and Europe in order to answer the argument that claim is true or not the type and concept - Tourism Boundary, and is it possible to development regional tourism Este trabalho contextualiza os processos de desenvolvimento regional do turismo na Pan- Amazônia, considerando as ações governamentais específicas para a região, e em especial para a fronteira entre Brasil e Guiana Francesa. Visando possibilitar o entendimento sobre as dinâmicas socioculturais e econômicas na área em estudo, foi importante discutir conceitos de fronteira, desenvolvimento e turismo. Ainda, analisaram-se as ações governamentais de turismo para a região e a relação dessas com as demais ações de desenvolvimento regional, objetivando desvelar as possibilidades existentes para a fronteira, e de que forma o turismo pode contribuir para os processos de desenvolvimento e cooperação. Desse modo, foi importante caracterizar a área através de procedimentos metodológicos da análise comparativa, ou seja, compararam-se as ações governamentais de turismo do Brasil e da Guiana Francesa, assim como, as ações de cooperação para o turismo, utilizando as técnicas da antropologia visual e etnográfico visando entender as dinâmicas presentes entre as comunidades envolvidas, além de entrevistas com agentes públicos, empresários e comunidades.
