Resumo:
The acquisition of food from institutional markets, such as the National School Feeding Program (PNAE) has been encouraged the consume of local products grown by group of family farmers that be organized in associations or agricultural cooperatives to provide healthy and quality food for the students enrolled in public schools. The family farming it ́s primordial for the supply of foods for the families in all brazilian regions and around the world. This studye had as objectives: 1) Identify the execution and effectivity of PNAE related to the municipal management; 2) Identify the social organizations involved with the local family farmers and the production profile of the foods growned; 3) Elaborate PNAE and family farming diagnose to guide the municipal managers to purchase the production of foods growned by family farmers to contribute with the local development (economic and social). The research was developed in the city of Maraparim located in the brazilian state of Pará and consists of a case study about the family farming, from Cooperative Agro-industrial of the Family Farming of Vila Maú (COOPVIMA), with emphasis in the foods production in order to subsidize the PNAE and the municipal management. For this purpose was used the Participative Rural Diagnose (DRP) and the following tools: Time Line, Agricultural Calendar and Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats (SWOT). In that way, it was identified that the PNAE is a tool for local development from the insertion of family farming as a provider of healthy food for students, however, it is essential that municipal managers and people involved with the PNAE develop actions joint to change the reality of the municipality following the guidelines and objectives established by the program.
