This paper addresses an approach to mathematics as a
cultural phenomenon, considering the social activities that stimulate the
formation of mathematical concepts and cultural values related to these
activities. This approach leads us to an analysis of teaching and teacher
education process from the concept of “Mathematical Enculturation”,
described by Bishop (1999), aiming for a greater commitment and
better teaching performance of teachers of mathematics. |
