On top of that, there is the excessive production of solid waste. Solid residues, when not treated correctly, cause damage to nature, contaminating the air, soil, and water, as well as causing health problems, spreading diseases in the population. On the grounds of this problem, it is necessary to stimulate critical-reflective development, proposing changes in society's behavior regarding environmental issues. In this perspective, Environmental Education is among the primary alternatives for the diffusion of environmental issues. The development of Environmental Education in an efficient way enables the construction of a more reflective and sensitive society, a conductor of transformations in environmental realities. Hence, this work aims to identify whether the theme of solid waste is addressed in the classroom by teachers of Elementary Education in the Public Schools of Capitão Poço - PA: Padre Vitaliano Maria Vari and Osvaldo Cruz. The specific objectives are: to identify if the basic education teachers of the schools have already had access to continuing education focused on the solid waste theme; to inspect the availability of instructional materials in the schools, and among the teachers about the theme. Furthermore, the elaboration of a Didactic Orientation Guide for elementary teachers, which deals with the point at issue. The methodology consisted of a bibliographic survey and the application of questionnaires to municipal agents, school coordination, and elementary teachers in Capitão Poço. The collection of this information was carried out in electronic format, because of the context experienced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The digital tool for the application of the questionnaires was Google Forms and personal e-mail. The results obtained through the application of questionnaires showed that the problem of solid waste, despite being crucially important nowadays, is unexplained in the school environment. This conclusion is proven by the lack of knowledge and educational material that deals with the subject. Therefore, given the results, it was possible to elaborate a Didactic Orientation Guide for Elementary Teachers about Solid Waste, to offer instructional material that approaches the subject clearly and objectively. A exploração dos recursos naturais, o aumento populacional em perímetros urbanos e o incentivo à cultura do consumo, têm acarretado expressivos impactos socioambientais, dentre eles, a excessiva produção de resíduos sólidos. Os resíduos sólidos, quando não tratados de forma correta, causam flagelos à natureza, contaminando o ar, o solo e água, assim como, causam problemas de saúde, propagando doenças na população. Em virtude dessa problemática se faz necessário estimular o desenvolvimento crítico-reflexivo, propondo mudanças na conduta da sociedade, quanto às questões ambientais. Nessa perspectiva, a Educação Ambiental está dentre as principais alternativas para a difusão de assuntos ambientais. O desenvolvimento da Educação Ambiental de forma eficiente possibilita a construção de uma sociedade mais reflexiva e sensível, condutora de transformações das realidades ambientais. Desse modo, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo geral identificar se a temática dos resíduos sólidos é abordada em sala de aula pelos professores da Educação Básica das Escolas Estaduais Padre Vitaliano Maria Vari e Osvaldo Cruz, do município de Capitão Poço – PA. Os objetivos específicos são: identificar se os professores da educação básica das escolas já tiveram acesso à formação continuada voltada à temática dos resíduos sólidos; verificar a disponibilidade de material didático nas escolas e entre os professores sobre o tema, e por fim, elaborar um Guia de Orientação Didática para os professores da educação básica, que trate sobre a problemática. A metodologia se constituiu em levantamentos bibliográficos e aplicação de questionários aos agentes municipais, coordenação escolar e professores da educação básica do município de Capitão Poço. A coleta dessas informações foi realizada em formato eletrônico, em decorrência do contexto vivenciado pela pandemia de COVID-19. A ferramenta digital para a aplicação dos questionários foi o Google Forms e e-mail pessoal. Os resultados obtidos por meio da aplicação dos questionários evidenciaram que a problemática dos resíduos sólidos, apesar de ser muito importante na atualidade, devido os diversos problemas que causa a natureza e sociedade, não é explanada no ambiente escolar, por falta de conhecimento e material didático que trate sobre o tema.
