The research objective was to create a vocabulary from the terms used in Odontology course disciplines and purpose a creation of equivalent term-signs in the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) that represent the concepts and meanings taking into account the grammatical characteristics of sign languages based on lexical and terminological theories based in the methodology of socioterminology by Faulstich (1995). This semantic field was chosen because it is not yet a widely explored area. The term signs used in the field of Odontology, especially those used in the subjects taught in the Odontology course are still few in Libras. The methodology used was qualitative research. In the first stage, data collection, we proceed with this steps ahead: i) delimitation of the object of study and the target audience; ii) definition of the conceptual map; iii) selection and organization of the corpus; iv) selection of candidates for term signs; v) validation of the term signs by specialists in linguistics and Odontology; and v) reliability test. The second stage obey the sequence: i) Elaboration and organization of the terminology files; ii) organization of the images and videos in Libras and iii) the written production of the sign-terms through the SignWriting system. The terminology glossary of Portuguese-Libras Odontology will follow the rules of macro and microstructure used in sign language glossaries. The term signs were validated through periodic meetings between specialists in the field of translation and interpretation, deaf linguists and deaf students. We hope that the glossary proposal presented in this paper, will be extremely relevant to assist in communication between those involved in the process of simultaneous translation and interpretation, in ensure of linguistic rights for the deaf who enter college of Odontology course and as didactic material that contributes to the learning of terminology of this area. O presente trabalho, desenvolvido no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras – Linguística, na linha de pesquisa Análise, Descrição e Documentação das Línguas Naturais, apresenta a proposta de criação de um glossário terminológico bilíngue Português-Libras de Odontologia, a partir do recorte de domínio Curso de Odontologia da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). O objetivo é compor um glossário a partir dos termos utilizados nas disciplinas do curso de odontologia e propor a criação de sinais-termo equivalentes na Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) que representem os conceitos e significados, levando em conta as características gramaticais dessa língua com base nas teorias lexicais e terminológicas, seguindo a metodologia da socioterminologia aplicada por Faulstich (1995). Este campo semântico foi escolhido pelo fato de ainda não ser uma área largamente explorada. Os sinais-termo usados na área da odontologia, especialmente os utilizados nas disciplinas ministradas no curso de odontologia ainda são poucos na Libras. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa qualitativa. Na primeira fase, a coleta de dados, seguimos as seguintes etapas: i) delimitação do objeto de estudo e o público alvo; ii) definição do mapa conceitual; iii) seleção e organização do corpus; iv) seleção dos candidatos a sinais-termo; v) validação dos sinais-termo por especialistas da linguística e da odontologia; e v) teste de fiabilidade. A segunda fase obedeceu a seguinte ordem: i) elaboração e organização das fichas terminológicas; ii) organização das imagens e vídeos em Libras e iii) a produção escrita dos sinais-termos por meio do sistema SignWriting de escrita de sinais. O glossário terminológico da odontologia Português-Libras seguirá as regras de macro e microestrutura utilizada em glossários de Língua de Sinais. Os sinais-termo foram validados por meio de reuniões periódicas entre especialistas da área da tradução e interpretação, surdos(as) linguistas e surdos(as) discentes. Esperamos que a proposta de glossário apresentada neste trabalho seja de extrema relevância para auxiliar na comunicação entre os envolvidos no processo de tradução e de interpretação simultânea, na garantia dos direitos linguísticos para os(as) surdos(as) que ingressam no curso de odontologia e como material didático que contribua para a aprendizagem de conteúdos da área.
