References to other works are also considered, as they serve as a necessary condition for developing an answer to that central problem. Chapter I presents the conditions necessary for a science about the human soul. This requires understanding the Aristotelian definition of science (1.1), the foundation on which all theoretical sciences are based (1.2), and the specific foundations of psychology (1.3). This exposition employs the explanation of the Principle of Contradiction found in Book IV of the Metaphysics, explores the polysemic notion of ousia, and examines how its principles, form and matter, relate to the study of the human soul. Chapter II delves into the study of the human soul as form, using the methodology presented in De Anima, investigating soul operations, and exploring the connection with virtues as set out in the Nicomachean Ethics. In Chapter III, it is discussed the practical syllogism as a combination of knowledge about ends and deliberation about means, through (3.1) the situation of the problem in the academic sphere with the contribution of Elizabeth Anscombe; (3.2) the critical evaluation of Jessica Moss's response to the problem of the mode of apprehension and the nature of the first practical principles and the defense of the noetic-experiential apprehension according to its scope; and (3.3) the comparison of readings regarding the object of phronesis and the presentation of the specification of the general ends as a proposed interpretation. A presente dissertação visa investigar a formação do raciocínio prático na psicologia aristotélica tomando como base a Ética Nicomaqueia, sem deixar de considerar referências a outras obras, as quais, e função da relação entre as ciências em Aristóteles, servem como fundamento para o desenvolvimento de uma resposta ao problema central. Para isso no capítulo I, são apresentadas as condições de possibilidade de uma ciência sobre a alma humana, o que exige (1.1) entender a definição aristotélica de ciência; (1.2) o fundamento sobre o qual todas as ciências teóricas estão baseadas; e (1.3) os fundamentos específicos da psicologia. Nessa exposição, recorreu-se à explicação do Princípio de Contradição presente no livro IV da Metafísica, à noção polissêmica de ousia e como os seus princípios – forma e matéria – relacionam-se com o estudo da alma humana. No capítulo II, aprofundou-se no estudo da alma humana entendida como forma segundo (2.1) a metodologia apresentada no De Anima; (2.2) a investigação das operações anímicas; e (2.3) a conexão com as virtudes ao modo exposto na Ética Nicomaqueia. No capítulo III, adentrou-se no raciocínio prático como conjugação do conhecimento acerca dos fins e da deliberação quanto aos meios através (3.1) da situação do problema no âmbito acadêmico com a contribuição de Elizabeth Anscombe; (3.2) da avaliação crítica da resposta de Jessica Moss ao problema do modo de apreensão e da natureza dos primeiros princípios práticos e da defesa da apreensão noética-experiencial em função de sua abrangência; e (3.3) do cotejamento de leituras a respeito do objeto da phronesis e da apresentação da especificação dos fins gerais enquanto interpretação proposta.
