In 1960, a number of specimens of lizards were collected in the Federal Territory of Amapá, among them a very young micro-daisy. It presented completely different morphological characteristics from the genera known in the Boulenger treatise (1885). At that time, we thought that the same would fit within the genre Leposoma Spix, point of view that, some time later we reformulated. There is indeed a certain general resemblance to this genus, but under closer analysis, we perceive the profound differences that exist, so that the Amapá specimen was not included in the genus Leposoma. This lizard should then belong to a new genus. |
