This is a qualitative and quantitative research, aiming to investigate if the scientific production of Goeldi Museum’s researchers, published in the "Bulletin of the Goeldi Museum" (Humanities’ version) between 1991 and 2010, presents contributions from the foreign researchers who published in the same journal between 1894 and 1914. It used the bibliometric as the research method, with three data collection techniques: literature review, documentary research and interview. The main source of information was the scientific journal of the institution itself. Citation analysis was the methodological tool used to analyze the data. The results show the presence and permanence of the works of foreign scientists in current production, published in the investigated source. The citations by current researchers “brought back” those scientists from “oblivion", giving “new meanings” to their work. Through the qualitative and quantitative citation analysis it is observed the presence of foreign scientists’ contribution more than 100 years after their scientific production, in the recent work from the Goeldi Museum’s researchers. The findings also show the relevance of a journal stablished in the nineteenth century (1894) which endures, proving that the scientific production of a region of undeniable relevance to the Brazilian development.
