It used the bibliometric as the research method, with three data collection techniques: literature review, documentary research and interview. The main source of information was the scientific journal of the institution itself. Citation analysis was the methodological tool used to analyze the data. The results show the presence and permanence of the works of foreign scientists in current production, published in the investigated source. The citations by current researchers “brought back” those scientists from “oblivion", giving “new meanings” to their work. Through the qualitative and quantitative citation analysis it is observed the presence of foreign scientists’ contribution more than 100 years after their scientific production, in the recent work from the Goeldi Museum’s researchers. The findings also show the relevance of a journal stablished in the nineteenth century (1894) which endures, proving that the scientific production of a region of undeniable relevance to the Brazilian development. Agência 1 Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter quali-quantitativo, cujo objetivo geral foi investigar se na produção científica dos pesquisadores do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, publicada no “Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi” (versão Ciências Humanas), entre 1991 e 2010, houve contribuições, de pesquisadores estrangeiros que publicaram no mesmo periódico, de 1894 a 1914. O método adotado foi o bibliométrico, com a utilização de três técnicas de coleta de dados: pesquisa bibliográfica, pesquisa documental e entrevistas. A principal fonte consultada foi o próprio periódico científico da Instituição. A análise de citação foi a ferramenta metodológica utilizada para análise dos dados coletados. Os resultados refletem, nos artigos publicados na fonte investigada, a presença e a permanência de cientistas estrangeiros “resgatados” e “salvos do esquecimento” por meio de citações “ressignificadas” pelos pesquisadores atuais. Considera-se que por meio da análise quali-quantitativa de citações, foi possível verificar a presença de cientistas estrangeiros, mais de 100 após a geração de seus conhecimentos, na produção de pesquisadores recentes do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi.
