The objective was to characterize the structure of natural populations of palm trees and their respective local uses on Combu Island, Acará and Limoeiro do Ajuru, Pará State. For structural analysis an area of 3.5 ha was used in Combu Island and 2.5 ha in Limoeiro do Ajuru, noting the height and diameter of all individuals above 1 m in height and with a diameter greater than or equal to 3 cm. Information on local uses was collected through interviews with riverbank dwellers on both islands. The presence of 1,170 individuals belonging to 8 palm species was registered in Combu Island and 401 individuals belonging to 6 palm species in Limoeiro do Ajuru. The species E. oleraceae was considered dominant in both communities. In both locations the use of palm trees is related to local food, commercialization, handicraft, household uses, animal feed, fertilization and medicinal uses.
