In order to evaluate the germination potential of the species Euterpe oleracea Mart. (black, white and sword varieties), lriarthea exorrizha Wendl, Bactris major, and Bactris minor an experiment was set up on Combu Island, municipality of Acará, Pará state and at the research campus of the MPEG (Emilio Goeldi Museum of Pará) located in Belém, Pará. In Ilha do Combu there were 03 treatments with 03 repetitions which were: WIT (Witness - fruits with pulp), T2 (pulped fruits and manually scarified) and T3 (pulped fruits) using a total of 300 seeds distributed in number of 100 per repetition. At the research campus of MPEG, three treatments with three repetitions were performed in the laboratory: T4 (40°C), T5 (25°C), and T6 (germination on vermiculite substrate at room temperature). The seeds were collected randomly and the statistical design used was entirely randomized. After germination, the following parameters were evaluated: germination time and growth of the radicle and stalk. Treatments T2 and T6, for all species, showed higher efficiency. It was also verified that at 40°C (T4) there was no germination due to embryo dryness. The species Euterpe oleracea Mart. variety. espada was the one that presented the greatest precocity in germination. However, comparing the development of the vegetative characters of the black and white varieties it was concluded that these presented a more significant average in terms of root and stem development (CNPq/MPEG)
