This experiment is part of a larger project: Study for sustainable utilization of areas through fast-growing tree planting. The study area is the Cocoa Genetic Resources Station José Haroldo, belonging to CEPLAC, located on the BR-316 highway, 17 km from Belém, in the municipality of Ananindeua, State of Pará. The soil is classified as Medium-Textured Alic Yellow Latosol. Preliminary analysis is being done using tensiometers, to verify the matric potential of H20 in the soil, in areas with vegetation and without vegetation with different amounts of biomass. The matric potential of H20 in the soil was higher in the area with vegetation.
