The Algodoal/Maiandeua APA composes the coastal strip of northeastern Pará State. It is occupied by extensive mangroves, which constitute the dominant environmental unit, preceded, on the Atlantic façade, by sandy arrows, beaches and dune systems. Aiming at the environmental characterization of the restinga of Maiandeua, located west of Algodoal Island (Maracanã), a morpho-botanical transect in E-W direction, perpendicular to the actual coastline, was carried out, integrating data relative to the morphology of the study area and the plant communities. Six units were individualized: Beach, Sandy Cliff, Dunes Field, Shrub Field, Herbaceous Field and Lower Coastal Plateau (CNPq, FNMA/IBAMA). |
