Maiandeua and Algodoal are islands at the coast of Pará situated in the municipal district of Maracanã at about 00°35'03" to 00°38'29" lat. S and 47°31'54" to 47°34'57" long. O. On the sandbanks of these islands the Guttiferae family is represented by the genera Rheedia L. Clusia L. and Vismia Vand., with the species R. acuminata (Ruiz et Pavon) Planchon et Triana, C. grandiflora Splitge V.guianensis (Aubl) Cloisy. The material collected at the study sites was compared with specimens from the MPEG herbarium. Morphological observations were made under a ZEISS stereomicroscope with a clear camera attached. The nomenclature used to indicate the shape and indentation of morphological structures was based on the works of LA WRENCE (1973), RADFORD et al (1974) and RIZINNI (1977). R. acuminata is a tree with a woody, cylindrical, glabrous stem, elliptic, opposite leaves, with an acute apex, rounded base and smooth margin. Male flowers: Inflorescence inserted in a pulvinus, calyx with orbicular sepals, corolla with oblong petals. Hermaphrodite flowers: Inflorescence in fascicles. C. grandiflora is a shrub with a woody, cylindrical stem, with puberulent indumentum, opposite, elliptic-lanceolate leaves, with acuminate apex, rounded base and smooth margin.Terminal inflorescence, calyx with suborbicular sepals, corolla with obovate petals. V.guianensis is a shrub with woody, cylindrical stem, with puberulent indumentum, leaves elliptic-lanceolate, opposite, with acuminate apex, rounded base and smooth margin. Inflorescence terminal, paniculiform, calyx with ovate-acute sepals, corolla with obovate petals.
