Br. family is represented by 5 genera and in this work, Eugenia L. is treated. This genus, which is the largest among the Myrtaceae, presents at about 500 species in Tropical America, distributed in different ecosystems such as forest, cerrado, campo rupestre, restinga, etc. This work is a contribution to the study of Eugenia, since the identification of the species was in need of a careful revision. For this study, samples with flowers and fruits were collected in the field, and exsiccata from the MG and IAN herbaria were analyzed. The material was analyzed under a stereomicroscope, within the classical procedures used in plant taxonomy. It is characterized by the arboreal or bushy habit; inflorescences in racemes, sometimes forming fascicles, some species with isolated flowers, in pairs or in triads; persistent bracteoles and calyces; pedicel flowers, sepals 4, free, imbricated in the floral bud; petals 4; numerous stamens; ovary 2 - locular and berry fruit with persistent sepals. On the islands of Algodoal and Maiandeua, 7 species of Eugenia occur, divided into 2 groups according to the arrangement of the inflorescences: I. Cauliflorous inflorescences: Eugenia flavescens DC., E. tapacumencis Berg, E. lambertiana De. and E. protenta Me Vaugh (=E. protracta Berg); 11.axillary or terminal inflorescences: E. punicifolia (H.B.K.) DC., E. biflora DC. and E. patrisii Vahl. The paper contains descriptions, identification key, illustrations, geographical distribution and comments on the species. Nas ilhas de Algodoal e Maiandeua, uma APA da restinga do Estado do Pará, localizada no município de Maracanã, a família Myrtaceae R. Br. está representada por 5 gêneros, sendo que neste trabalho tratou-se Eugenia L. Esse gênero, que é o maior entre as Myrtaceae, apresenta cerca de 500 espécies na América Tropical, distribuídas em diversos ecossistemas como floresta, cerrado, campo rupestre, restinga, etc. Este trabalho é uma contribuição ao estudo de Eugenia, uma vez que a identificação das espécies estava necessitando de uma criteriosa revisão. Para este estudo foram coletadas amostras com flores e frutos no campo, bem como analisadas exsicatas dos herbários MG e IAN. O material foi analisado em estereomicroscópio, dentro dos procedimentos clássicos utilizados em taxonomia vegetal. Caracteriza-se pelo hábito arbóreo ou arbustivo; as inflorescências em racemos, podendo formar fascículos, algumas espécies com flores isoladas, aos pares ou em tríades; bractéolas e calículos persistentes; flores pediceladas, sépalas 4, livres, imbricadas no botão floral; pétalas 4; estames numerosos; ovário 2 - locular e fruto baga com sépalas persistentes. Nas ilhas de Algodoal e Maiandeua ocorrem 7 espécies de Eugenia, divididas em 2 grupos conforme a disposição das inflorescências: I. Inflorescências caulifloras: Eugenia flavescens DC., E. tapacumencis Berg, E. lambertiana De. e E. protenta Me Vaugh (=E. protracta Berg).; 11.Inflorescências axilares ou terminais: E. punicifolia (H.B.K.) DC., E. biflora DC. e E. patrisii Vahl.
