They are trees, shrubs, woody or rarely scandent herbs. The family is characterized by simple, dystic, entire leaves, and absence of stipules. Bisexual flowers; stamens with a spiral arrangement, truncated connective and dilated over the anthers, multipistillate gynogenes, and variegated endosperm. They are used in food, home medicine, in the box industry, in agricultural implements and in civil construction. The present work aims to carry out a taxonomic study and an ethnobotanical investigation of the species used by the inhabitants of the municipality of Barcarena/PA. For the ethnobotanical study, interviews were conducted with members of some communities in the municipality. For the taxonomic study, the species mentioned in the interviews were collected, identified, registered and incorporated into the collection of the João Murça Pires Herbarium, of the Botany Coordination of the Emilio Goeldi Museum of Pará. The species with common use in food and home medicine are: the ata (Annona squamosa L.), the araticum (Annona montana Mad), the graviola (Annona muricata L.) and the biribá (Rollinia mucosa Bail). Others used in household medicine and other activities are: envira branca (Duguetia marcgraoiana Mart ), envira preta (Guatleria schomburgkiana Mart) and envira cheirosa (Annona paludosa Aubl.). As Annonaceae possuem distribuição pantropical e são constituídas por cerca de 130 gêneros e 2500 espécies. São árvores, arbustos, ervas lenhosas ou raramente escandentes. A família é caracterizada por apresentar folhas simples, dísticas, inteiras, e ausência de estípulas. Flores bissexuais; estames com disposição espiraladas, conectivo truncado e dilatado por sobre as anteras, gineceu multipistilado e endosperma variegado. São utilizadas na alimentação, na medicina caseira, na indústria de caixotaria, em implementos agrícolas e na construção civil. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo proceder estudo taxonômico e uma investigação etnobotânica das espécies utilizadas pelos moradores do município de Barcarena/PA. Para o estudo etnobotânico foram realizadas entrevistas com membros de algumas comunidades do município. Para o estudo taxonômico, as espécies citadas nas entrevistas foram coletadas, identificadas, registradas e incorporadas ao acervo do Herbário João Murça Pires (MG), da Coordenação de Botânica do Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi.Em reconhecimentos rápidos em algumas áreas de mata preservadas e cultivada sem quintais do município, registrou-se a ocorrência de nove gêneros e quinze espécies de Annonaceae, sendo que três gêneros e sete espécies foram utilizadas pelas comunidades. As espécies com utilização comuns na alimentação e medicina caseira são: a ata (Annona squamosa L.), o araticum (Annona montana Mad), a graviola (Annona muricata L.) e o biribá (Rollinia mucosa Bail).
