They constitute environments with various plant formations, with a floristic richness registered in more than 300 species, mainly herbaceous, shrubs and small trees. Studies involving open bush formations in restinga environments are quite restricted. Besides Pará, there is reference only to the southeast of the country, in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. The present study aims at the floristic, structural and phytosociological characterization of restinga thickets in a time scale of seven years. We used a methodology that has been adopted in this type of vegetation formation, aiming to standardize current vegetation investigations in which the mita is considered the sampling unit itself. During the investigations, a floristic increase of two to four species was observed on the smaller size classes of bushes, mainly species of Ouratea racemiformis Ule and Pagamea guianensis Aubl. Clusia grandiflora Splitg., Chrysobalanus icaco L. and Humiria balsamifera St. Hill. continue to occur in all developmental stages. Another observation is that some thickets were partially destroyed by the action of fire (natural or induced), with a natural regeneration of new species favored by the ability to regrow. With this we can observe the fragility of this ecosystem, thus reinforcing the need for botanical studies and preservation programs for our coastal areas. As restingas ocorrem no Pará numa faixa litorânea de aproximadamente 300 Km em extensão, compreendendo a zona fisiográfica do salgado. Constituem-se em ambientes com varias formações vegetais, com uma riqueza florística registrada em mais de 300 espécies principalmente herbáceas, arbustos e arvores de pequeno porte. Estudos envolvendo formações abertas de moitas em ambientes de restinga são bastante restritos. Afora o Pará, existe referência apenas para o sudeste do país, nos estados do Rio de Janeiro e Espírito Santo. O presente estudo tem por objetivo a caracterização florística, estrutural e fitossociológica de moitas de restinga numa escala temporal de sete anos. Utilizou-se uma metodologia que vem sendo adotada neste tipo de formação vegetal, visando padronizar as investigações de vegetação atuais da qual a moita é considerada como a própria unidade amostral. Durante as investigações constatou-se um incremento florístico de duas a quatro espécies nas moitas de menor classe de tamanho, sendo principalmente espécies de Ouratea racemiformis Ule e Pagamea guianensis Aubl. Clusia grandiflora Splitg., Chrysobalanus icaco L. e Humiria balsamifera St. Hill. permanecem ocorrendo em todos os estágios de desenvolvimento. Uma outra constatação é que algumas moitas foram parcialmente destruídas pela ação do fogo (natural ou induzido) havendo uma regeneração natural novas espécies existentes favorecida pela capacidade de rebrotamento.
