The article discusses archaeology as practiced in the Amazon and its related themes, which include people and communities; their objects and landscapes; the management of collections and the actions of institutions. It differentiates the ideas of collecting and hoarding within the Amazonian context. By presenting an academic research project linked to the Goeldi Museum, it defends the engaged management and shared custody of the archaeological collections generated. It proposes the concept of sensitive archaeology, as a humble, disalienated and, therefore, committed and powerful archaeology. |
