This text is a summary of completed and prospective ongoing research in the middle and upper Rio Negro. The research is conducted by researchers from the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi – MPEG, as well as other partner institutions, and is rooted both in the history of academic research by this institution in the region (see box at the end of this text) and, in recent decades, in the growing cooperation with the Instituto Socioambiental – ISA, with other research centers and, above all, with the Tukano, Aruak and Maku indigenous peoples, associated since 1987 in the Federação das Organizações Indígenas do Rio Negro – FOIRN. |
