The research is conducted by researchers from the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi – MPEG, as well as other partner institutions, and is rooted both in the history of academic research by this institution in the region (see box at the end of this text) and, in recent decades, in the growing cooperation with the Instituto Socioambiental – ISA, with other research centers and, above all, with the Tukano, Aruak and Maku indigenous peoples, associated since 1987 in the Federação das Organizações Indígenas do Rio Negro – FOIRN. Este texto é uma síntese de pesquisas concluídas e em perspectiva de continuidade no médio e alto rio Negro.
