In this sense, the accounting-based management control system is essential for improving administration, making it more competitive and generating new management opportunities in a participatory way in decision making and structuring organizational strategies. The general objective of this work is to demonstrate the importance of accounting as a strategic tool for self-management, based on the development and implementation of a management information system that will facilitate the control of the accounting actions of the Cooperativa deFruticultores de Abaetetuba (COFRUTA, in english, Abaetetuba's Horticulture Cooperative) lack of safe and efficient control mechanisms needed to conduct the enterprise, providing information to compose cash flow, annual report and equity through the launch of fixed assets and their monthly depreciation. The methodological process took an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on qualitative research procedures using methods and techniques that will involve the accomplishment of bibliographical research, documentary research, field research, participant observation, interviewing, with the development of SIGCONT: Cooperative Management Accounting Tool. SIG-CONT is a set of controls capable of generating accounting information necessary for COFRUTA's decision-making processes, supporting planning, control and organization functions in a timely manner for decisionmaking. As cooperativas agrárias apresentam uma diversidade de problemas gerenciais, entre elas a falta de um controle contábil e entendimento dessa ferramenta pelos gestores do empreendimento de forma autogestionária. Neste sentido, o sistema de controle gerencial contábil é imprescindível para melhoria da gestão, tornando mais competitiva e geradora de novas oportunidades de gerenciamento de forma participativa nas tomadas de decisão e na estruturação de estratégias organizacionais. O objetivo geral do trabalho é demonstrar a importância da Contabilidade como ferramenta estratégica de autogestão, a partir do desenvolvimento e implantação de um sistema de informação gerencial que irá facilitar o controle das ações contábeis da Cooperativa de Fruticultores de Abaetetuba (COFRUTA), em função da ausência de mecanismos de controles seguros e eficientes, necessários na condução do empreendimento, fornecendo informações para compor o fluxo de caixa, balanço social e o patrimônio por meio do lançamento dos bens do ativo imobilizado e de sua depreciação mensal. O processo metodológico teve uma abordagem interdisciplinar, com enfoque aos procedimentos da pesquisa qualitativa com a utilização de métodos e técnicas que envolveram a realização de pesquisa bibliográfica, pesquisa documental, pesquisa de campo, observação participante, realização de entrevista, com o desenvolvimento do SIG-CONT: Ferramenta Contábil de Gestão de Cooperativas. O SIG-CONT é um conjunto de controles capaz de gerar informações contábeis necessárias nos processos decisórios da COFRUTA, dando suporte às funções de planejamento, controle e organização, em tempo hábil para as tomadas de decisões.
