Resumo:
Seismic imaging under diabase sills is a challenge for seismic exploration in paleozoic basins, causing a raise in the explorational hazard in this region. Several factors contribute to this problem such as the high reflectivity at the interface between the top of the diabase and sediment package, short period multiples due heterogeneity in the diabase and the scattering of energy due roughness in the topography of the diabase. To get a better understanding about the propagation of seismic waves in this kind of environment, we build a 3D representative acoustic model of explorational target of a paleozoic basin. Then we insert physical properties in that model using data from wells, we simmulate 3D and 2D acquisition using finite differences and present the results for a 2D section in the region of greater thickness of the diabase. We describe the procedures used to build the 3D model analysing the characteristics of the data obtained by 3D seismic modelling and the result of seismic imaging in time and in depth from a 2D section.
