Resumo:
A problem frequently encountered in oil exploration in some Brazilian sedimentary basins is the presence of diabase sills intruded in the Paleozoic sequences. Diabase sills reduce the seismic imaging quality. The modeling of these complex geological situations allows the best understanding of them, and consequently the progress in the development of methodologies and technologies that minimize its effect in the diverse stages of the oil and gas industry. In the last years, diverse modeling and visualization techniques have appeared and gained a new importance in the resolution of problems found in oil exploration. The geological and geophysical modeling software called Geological Object Computer Aided Design (GOCAD) is one of these techniques. In this work was used this technique to build 3-D models of a area of interest of PETROBRAS referent to the Amazonas basin (Brazil). This type of modeling contributes in the resolution and understanding of the problems produced by the presence of diabase sills in this region. It is also important to verify the efficiency of diverse seismic methodologies to get a best illumination of these complex geological structures in deep.
