It is necessary that the documentary treatment in the semi-archives for a complete documentary management aiming at the propagation and dissemination of information, avoiding the collection of documents with no historical value and wrong elimination. Because it is a little explored subject, it believed that, this theoretical survey could contribute to the expansion and consolidation of future research. Procura-se discutir sobre a fase intermediária, suas funções e vantagens, observando a ausência de literatura e a escassez de pesquisa que tratem da temática, discorrendo sobre a inexistência dos documentos semiativos na prática da gestão documental. Haja vista, que o tratamento documental nos arquivos semiativos faz-se necessário para que haja uma gestão documental completa visando à difusão e disseminação da informação, evitando o recolhimento de documentos sem valor histórico e eliminação equivocada.
