The precipitation estimates from satellite images, due to its excellent spatial and temporal coverage, it can present itself as the sole source of rainfall data representative of a particular area. This study aimed to propose a comparison of data to arrive at a final product quality, and might perhaps say that the method is suitable for studying certain locality and thus try to draw a profile of precipitation.The results of this study will show that precipitation in GPI method, were pretty well accepted when compared to the automatic station. However with some deficiencies that will be shown throughout the paper. Uma das maiores dificuldades para os tomadores de decisões é o acompanhamento das condições de tempo ocorridas, pois a rede de estações de superfície é deficiente e mal distribuída e nem sempre os dados são disponibilizados. A estimativa de precipitação a partir de imagens obtidas por satélites, em função da excelente cobertura espacial e temporal, pode apresentar-se como a única forma de obtenção de dados pluviométricos representativos de uma determinada área. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo propor uma comparação de dados para se chegar a um produto final qualitativo, e com isso tentar afirmar se o método estudado se adéqua para a localidade estudada e dessa maneira tentar traçar um perfil de precipitação. Os resultados deste vão mostrar que as precipitações no método do GPI, foram consideravelmente bem aceitas se comparadas ao da estação automática.
