The paper presents the current diagnosis of solid waste management in the municipality of Xinguara, State of Pará characterized systems storage, collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste used in the municipality. In addition to existing addresses legal aspects on the subject, at the municipal level and present an Integrated Analysis of the major deficiencies of the public cleaning services , pointing out the causes and consequences of the situation described .
Allows for the planning of waste management in an integrated manner, so as to cover an adequate system of collection, segregation, transportation, treatment and disposal of municipal waste. The study behind a sampling of waste characterization in general, where we can already identify the types of waste that reaches the most people, and the initial procedures to be taken by public agencies to minimize the final placement.
We believe that this characterization will support the planning of implementation of selective collection of Xinguara County, which does not justify saving and recycling as only workaround to correct solid waste management systems. On the contrary, tried to be realistic in Maximo to evaluate the real possibilities to develop selective collection activities in order to improve the living conditions of the population living in this activity, showing up as a viable alternative to garbage reduction.
The information contained in this work could be used in making future decision, considering that the information will be sectored fundamental technological option chosen, making the process more sustainable , especially when the subject is based on financial economic issues related to the environmental suitability of all management MSW .
