We conducted a case study in a processing industry of agricultural substrate, in February and April 2016, in order to evaluate the efficiency of the industrial effluent treatment in a factory, placed in the Metropolitan Area of Belém-Pa, trying to characterize the unit operations deployed in Industrial Effluent Treatment Station (ETEI). So there were technical visits to identify the generating points of industrial effluent, to know the treatment process and to conduct laboratory tests to distinguish the effluent generated. The obtained results in the characterization of physical, chemical and microbiological effluent were compared with the maximum values for industrial effluents disposal allowed by CONAMA Resolution 430/2011, and the obtained results with samples of the receptor water body were compared with the definitions by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005, which provides for the classification of water bodies and environmental guidelines for its legal framework. Therefore it allows confirming that the treatment system adopted by the company, in study, follows the current legislation, concerned with the conservation of water resources and environmental protection. Nas últimas décadas a poluição de corpos hídricos em função do lançamento de efluentes líquidos se tornou uma preocupação constante para o seguimento industrial. Realizou-se um estudo de caso em uma indústria processadora de substrato agrícola, no período de Fevereiro e Abril de 2016, com o objetivo de avaliar a eficiência do tratamento do efluente industrial deste seguimento fabril, localizada na Região Metropolitana de Belém-Pa.. Buscando caracterizar as operações unitárias da Estação de Tratamento do Efluente Industrial (E.T.E.I.) adotadas. Assim foram realizadas visitas técnicas para identificação dos pontos geradores do efluente industrial, conhecimento do processo de tratamento e realização de ensaios laboratoriais para caracterização do efluente gerado. Os resultados obtidos com a caracterização dos parâmetros físicos, químicos e microbiológicas do efluente foram comparados com os valores máximos para lançamento de efluentes industriais permitidos pela Resolução CONAMA 430/2011, e os resultados obtidos com as amostras do corpo hídrico receptor foram comparados com as definições da Resolução CONAMA 357/2005, que dispõe sobre a classificação dos corpos de água e diretrizes ambientais para o seu enquadramento.
