The drinking water crisis and water stress are responsible for problems faced by humanity, caused by population growth, industrialization, agricultural expansion and climate change, contributing to the degradation of water resources process. The agribusinesses, mainly slaughterhouse - Beef refrigerator are linked to high water consumption that generates high liquid effluent load loaded with organic materials and pollutants, causing major environmental and public health impacts, if these do not receive adequate treatment. The search for implementing water reuse alternatives is an urgent need and according to the UN, the estimated population by 2050 will be three billion people and the demand for water is likely to be 70% higher than the current and almost half of population will have supply problems by 2030. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Effluent Treatment Station SOCIPE, located in Belém / PA, describing the production process of the slaughter plant, its stages of treatment and the amount of treated effluent at the end of this process, proposing the reuse. It has been found that the ETE system has steps of aerobic and anaerobic treatment. he potential demands of water use were identified in the industry and according to the figures provided by the slaughterhouse operations manager - fridge we could make a detailed quantitative use of drinking water in the beef processing system. it has measured that the enterprise uses around 750 m³ daily of drinking water in the production of fresh meat equivalent to meet the need of daily demand of 5,445 people. With proper reuse may be saving drinking water in order to 270 m³ or 36% to be preserved for more noble uses; and also a 45% reduction in the total daily volume of effluent that will be released in the Para River, preserving water resources and environment. Thus it is recommended sustainable use and reuse of water in a rational, quantitative and qualitative always seeking possible the Wastewater reuse of water in their treated productions or not, but always respecting the rules in force in order to have the social, environmental balance and economic. |
