However, access to collections in museums is something far from the reality of most of the population, much of the knowledge produced in scientific collections of natural history museums, including paleontological collections, are restricted to a minority, being slightly enhanced the educational role of these institutions . Moreover, knowledge of Paleontology is an important tool for the understanding of the biology and geoscience therefore disclosure needs to be enlarged, especially in elementary education. This arose from the question regarding the Paleontology Collection, Coordenação de Ciências da Terra e Ecologia (CCTE), do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), where the material deposited is collected primarily from by paleontologists of institution. Once collected, the samples are treated and selected to compose the collections, which will be used to assist in scientific research. However, part of that is collected cannot compose scientific collections and thus, there is the need to give a destiny to these examples, showing the fossil material to the school community, and for this, mini collections were made with fossils Pirabas Formation (Para State), making these part of the school teaching resources that can be handled by teachers and students, taking easy and dynamic access. This initiative extrapolate the role of fossils, not just being targeted for research, but being mean to disseminate the concept of Museology and facilitating students' understanding of the geological past of the Earth and how fossils can tell this story. It is believed that this experience of direct material contact with fossil may establish a favorable and consistent educational bond. Os museus têm importante papel na construção da formação científica do cidadão e os profissionais atuantes têm o papel de estabelecer estratégias didáticas para divulgação do conhecimento, sendo intermediadores na comunicação entre o museu e seu público. Contudo, o acesso às coleções em museus é algo distante da realidade da maior parte da população, muito do conhecimento produzido em acervos científicos de museus de história natural, incluindo coleções paleontológicas, ficam restritos a uma minoria, sendo pouco potencializado o papel educativo dessas instituições. Por outro lado, o conhecimento da Paleontologia é uma ferramenta importante para a compreensão da biologia e das geociências, por isso, a sua divulgação necessita ser ampliada, em especial no ensino fundamental. Esta proposta surgiu da questão em relação ao Acervo de Paleontologia, da Coordenação de Ciências da Terra e Ecologia (CCTE), do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), onde o material depositado é proveniente, principalmente, de coletas realizadas por paleontólogos que realizam excussões de campo. Depois de coletados, os exemplares são tratados e selecionados para compor as coleções, que servirão para auxiliar na pesquisa científica. Contudo, parte do que é coletado não pode compor as coleções científicas e assim, observou-se a necessidade de dar um destino a estes exemplares, apresentando o material fóssil à comunidade escolar, e para isto, foram confeccionadas minicoleções com fósseis da Formação Pirabas (Estado do Pará), tornando estas, parte dos recursos didáticos da escola que poderão ser manuseados por professores e alunos, tornando seu acesso fácil e dinâmico. Esta iniciativa permitiu extrapolar a função dos fósseis, não sendo apenas alvo para pesquisas, mas servindo de meio para a divulgação da concepção de Museologia e facilitando a compreensão dos alunos sobre o passado geológico da Terra e como os fósseis podem contar esta história.
