The difficulty to produce texts becomes a hindrance, already that they will need of this knowledge in the future as citizens, as professionals. It is observed that, one of the main challenges for these students it’s just the argumentative construction of their texts, when they need to use two elements in the content: the cohesion and the coherence. To exist cohesion and coherence in the texts, it’s necessary to apply properly the connectives, items that serve to give sense for all the argumentation expose in the written production. The goal of this search was reflect about the argumentative construction in texts written by students of 3rd years high school, in a public school of Castanhal/PA city. To reach this objective we’d perform a qualitative interpretive search, of an applied nature. We did use how to theoretical support authors as Val (2006), Koch (1992; 1995; 2005), Travaglia (1990) and Geraldi (1997). Therefore, we held a class about “textual connectives” for the high school students from that public school, and there was a “textual production”, in the which they had to produce an opinion article, about cellphone uses at the classroom, in order to verify if they knew how to use the conjunctions correctly. We chose seven texts for a general analysis, and three texts for a detailed analysis. The analysis of the results showed that: the students surveyed have an opinion about the topic, but they have difficulties with textual argumentative construction, because they don’t know how to use the cohesion and coherence elements correctly – the conjunctions. Therefore, we consider that is low the domain of the written by the students of 3rd years of high school. No Brasil, nota-se que o domínio da Língua Portuguesa nos alunos das etapas finais do ensino básico tem sido algo problemático, o que se percebe quando os mesmos necessitam fazer as redações necessárias para a entrada no Ensino Superior, ou exigidas pelos concursos públicos. Ocorre que a dificuldade na produção textual dos alunos de Ensino Médio torna-se um grande empecilho, já que definirá, de certa forma, o futuro destes enquanto cidadãos e profissionais. Percebe-se, então, que um dos principais desafios para esses estudantes é a construção argumentativa de seus textos, o que requer a presença de dois elementos em seu conteúdo: a coesão e a coerência. Para que haja coesão e coerência nos textos, há a necessidade de saber aplicar adequadamente os conectivos, itens que servem para dar sentido a toda a argumentação exposta na produção escrita. Nesse sentido, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo geral refletir sobre a construção argumentativa em textos de alunos de uma turma do 3º ano do Ensino Médio de uma escola pública estadual de Castanhal/PA. Para alcançar esse objetivo, foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa interpretativa e de natureza aplicada. Utilizamos como aporte teórico estudiosos como Val (2006), Koch (1992; 1995; 2005), Travaglia (1990) e Geraldi (1997). Desta forma, ministramos uma aula sobre “conectivos textuais” para alunos de Ensino Médio da escola e os alunos fizeram uma atividade de “produção textual”, em que tiveram de escrever um artigo de opinião sobre o uso do celular em sala de aula, a fim de verificar se eles sabiam usar as conjunções corretamente. A partir dessa produção, foram escolhidos sete textos para uma reflexão geral e três textos para uma análise mais detalhada. Os resultados obtidos mostram, em linhas gerais, que: os alunos envolvidos nesta pesquisa, embora apresentem pontos de vistas em relação a determinado tema, possuem dificuldades em relação à construção argumentativa textual, devido não possuírem o domínio adequado do uso dos principais mecanismos de coesão e coerência – as conjunções.
