This study aims to describe the main difficulties encountered by primiparous women facing the breastfeeding process. This is a descriptive, prospective and qualitative study, conducted at the Sacramenta Basic Health Unit, in July and August 2019. With the participation of puerperal women, primiparous, regardless of whether they exclusively or not breastfeed, contraindications in breastfeeding, accompanied by their newborn, newborn, full-term, without malformations and who agreed to participate in the research. The main difficulties related to breastfeeding pointed out in this study were: Nipple cleft, little milk and poor grip. All problems presented by the nursing mother are related to breastfeeding technique and maternal positioning to breastfeed. The aid to the primiparous postpartum woman in the breastfeeding process can prevent breast complications, as well as help to resolve them when they are already installed. Embora atualmente as vantagens da amamentação e os benefícios do leite materno sejam apresentadas cada vez mais de forma clara pela comunidade científica, os problemas que a mãe enfrenta durante a amamentação podem levar ao desmame precoce. Este estudo objetiva descrever as principais dificuldades encontradas por primíparas diante do processo de amamentação. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, prospectivo e com abordagem qualitativa, realizado na Unidade Básica de Saúde da Sacramenta, nos meses de julho e agosto de 2019.Com a participação de puérperas, primíparas, independente se amamentam de forma exclusiva ou não, sem contraindicações na amamentação, acompanhadas de seu recém-nascido (RN), único, nascido a termo, sem malformações e que aceitaram participar da pesquisa. As principais dificuldades relacionadas à amamentação apontadas neste estudo foram: Fissura mamilar, pouco leite e má pega. Todos os problemas apresentadas pela nutriz estão relacionadas a técnica da mamada e o posicionamento materno para amamentar.
