Preterm newborns are an audience that deserves special attention from health professionals,
since they are much more likely to develop comorbidities that can permanently affect their
health and even cause them to die. Given this, the Ministry of Health recommends humanized
measures through the Kangaroo Method, so that newborns receive adequate assistance to
preserve their development. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is one of the essential
environments for caring for this audience and has specialized staff and materials for such care.
The study sought to validate a care protocol for premature newborns based on the Kangaroo
Method guidelines. This is a methodological, descriptive, qualitative and quantitative research
on the validation of a care protocol. Twenty-eight judges participated in the research,
including nurses, doctors and physiotherapists who have experience, knowledge and work in
the area of neonatology and the Kangaroo Method. They met the inclusion criteria and agreed
to participate in the study after the presentation of the informed consent form. The participants
were given the validation kit, containing invitation letter, two-way IC, the protocol and the
assessment tool for assistive technology. Among the 28 judges, 23 of them are nurses, with an
average of 14 years of experience in the neonatal environment. Data were collected through
an evaluative instrument composed by the professional profile and protocol evaluation,
following the Likert scale. The collection took place during the months of May and June of
2019. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Santa Casa de
Misericórdia do Pará Foundation, according to the Resolution 466/12 of the National Health
Council. contained in the evaluation instrument were organized in a spreadsheet using
Microsoft Excel 2007 software, then analyzed and arranged in tables. Most judges (89.2%)
were female, had an average of 43 years old, 82.1% nurses and 78.5% neonatology
specialists. The results indicated excellent CVI over domains, adding a value of 0.91 to the
overall CVI of the technology. The domain “Objectives” presented CVI of 0.94; Structure and
Presentation obtained 0.86 with highlights for the items “Scientism” and “References” that
presented the lowest indexes, indicating the need for revision and possible updating of
scientific information contained in the protocol; and 0.94 in Relevance, where there were
statements that stressed the importance of this type of research and the creation of technology
for health. Several contributions were made in order to improve the protocol content, which
were analyzed and will be used in the improvement aiming at its introduction in the
institution. Given the findings, the protocol was considered valid for use. |
