This work approaches the role of the masonic library regarding the spread of information in close organizations. The professional librarian has a key role here as the mediator of the information between the followers of the masonic organization. Our general goal is to emphasize the performance of the professional librarian, relating extremely important aspects for the exercise of the profession as well as praising his performance and its relevance to the masonic institutions as the disseminator and mediator of the information. Our specific goals are clarify doubts about masonry that are common sense. In order to do this, we are going to show the masonry and the “closed organizations” as just one more field of work for the professional librarian. For the literature review, a lot of research in different sources has been done, such as books, journals, websites and published scientific articles approaching the theme. Through the research, it was possible to conclude that the masonic library is an important space where diverse information can be found. The masonry constantly causes a mix of fear and curiosity on people. These feelings lead people to be biased about masonry. This situation lasted many years. We have developed this work with the intention of dissolving this prejudice. We try to reach this goal going through the library’s door. Thanks to the library and the professional librarian, we are able to answer many of our questions as well as help those who have access to this work. |
