For this, the methodology used was the quantitative and qualitative analysis of content, as described by Jorge Pedro Sousa (2013). In the quantitative analysis, it was tried to evaluate the emphasis given to the coverage from the events for each of the newspapers paraenses through the number of texts, called cover, space occupied and other quantifiable aspects. In the qualitative analysis, the objective was to identify the treatment given to scientific information and how the scientific dissemination carried out by the Evandro Chagas Institute impacted the coverage. O presente trabalho pretende analisar a cobertura jornalística realizada pelos jornais O Liberal e Diário do Pará sobre o acidente ambiental ocorrido em Barcarena em fevereiro/2018 envolvendo a empresa norueguesa Hydro/Alunorte, tendo como foco principal perceber como a divulgação científica ganhou visibilidade e impactou a cobertura do caso. Para isso, a metodologia usada foi a análise quantitativa e qualitativa de conteúdo, conforme descrita por Jorge Pedro Sousa (2013). Na análise quantitativa, buscou-se avaliar o destaque dado à cobertura a partir dos acontecimentos por cada um dos diários paraenses por meio do número de textos, chamadas de capa, espaço ocupado e outros aspectos quantificáveis.
