To this end, we use bibliographic support on the historical context and based on the concepts of poetic theory, such as the Poetics of Aristotle and Anazildo Silva Vasconcellos in History of the Brazilian Epic (2007) and the base text of the poem by Virgílio C. Dias (2005). ) with the thesis that Portugal exists by its own will, the core by which the poem can be understood and by the wonderful and historical plan that form the model of epic poetry. Este artigo tem por propósito a leitura e a explicação do primeiro canto da epopeia portuguesa de Camões, Os Lusíadas com a produção de uma análise e interpretação da divisão do canto em consonância com paralelos de temas com a contemporaneidade. Para tanto, utiliza-se apoio bibliográfico sobre o contexto histórico e embasado nos conceitos da teoria poética, como a Poética de Aristóteles e Anazildo Silva Vasconcellos em História da Epopeia Brasileira (2007) e pelo texto base do poema de Virgílio C.
