Dyspareunia can manifest itself in several ways, so it can be classified by the location, time and nature of the pelvic pain experienced. OBJECTIVE: To assess whether sexual desire will influence the sexual function of women with dyspareunia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is an cross-sectional study. 24 women aged between 18 and 39 years with symptoms of dyspareunia participated. Patients were assessed for pain level using VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) and sexual function using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Descriptive statistics and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used to assess the association between the two variables, adopting a significance level of p≤ 0.05. RESULTS: There was a positive and moderate correlation between the desire domain and the total FSFI score, there was no correlation between the EVA and the total FSFI score, there was a positive and moderate correlation between the pain and age domain. CONCLUSION: There was a significant association of decreased desire domain in female sexual response, assessed by the FSFI questionnaire, however, the severity and extent of the consequences of dyspareunia depend on the particularities of each patient's experience. INTRODUÇÃO: Dispareunia é definida como a presença de dor genital durante a relação sexual, a qual gera angústia ou dificuldade interpessoal. A dispareunia pode se manifestar de várias formas, podendo ser classificada pela localização, tempo e natureza da dor pélvica experimentada. OBJETIVO: Avaliar se o desejo sexual terá influência na função sexual de mulheres com dispareunia. MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, no qual participaram 24 mulheres com idade entre 18 e 39 anos com sintomas de dispareunia. As pacientes foram avaliadas quanto o nível de dor através da Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) e a função sexual pelo Questionário Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Foi utilizada estatística descritiva e Coeficiente de Correlação de Spearman para avaliar a associação entre as duas variáveis, adotando um nível de significância de p≤ 0,05. RESULTADOS: Houve correlação positiva e moderada entre o domínio desejo e o escore total do FSFI, não houve correlação do EVA e o escore total do FSFI, houve correlação positiva e moderada entre o domínio dor e idade.
